Árnyas Dió (Shady Walnut) Treehouse, Verőce: A house on the tree

Who wouldn’t have wanted to spend time in a house built on a tree as a child?

We can do it as well in the Danube Bend, as we have to climb a tree to occupy one of the most special accommodation, because it was built on a walnut tree. However, when it was fastened, they paid attention to environmentally friendly solutions! Its interior shines in fairy-tale colours, the furnishings and furniture are in perfect harmony with the atmosphere of the area. The owners’ artistic vein can be seen in every little detail, but the most striking is the bathroom mosaic, which was laid out piece by piece. We can further enhance the romantic feeling of life with the wooden bathtub, which is also available on a permanent basis even in winter. Don't look for WiFi, TV, radio!

Hegyi Kabin (Mountain Cabin), Zebegény: Neat comfort

In English, ‘cabin’ refers to a building that is usually made of wood, not very large in size and typically surrounded by a natural environment. The Mountain Cabin is suitable for all of these, and even beyond. With its puritan lines and design elements, right from the outside it evokes the image of a Scandinavian lakeside hideout, only with the difference that it is found in the picturesque Zebegény, so the number of hours of sunshine is also encouragingly high. Entering the door, we are greeted by an inviting internal environment, with all its modern equipments, all in the natural harmony of the materials used, the spaces and the light. The full-glazed reading corner protruding from the wall and overlooking the forest deserves special mention. From here we can easily start our hiking tours to one of the most spectacular hikes in Börzsöny towards Remete Cave.

Meredély Kunyhószállás (Hut Accommodation), Leányfalu: The rhythm of ‘slow design’

The call of the wild can touch those who want to relax in the Meredély Hut Accommodation. We can imagine ourselves in an Alaskan resthouse even if some of the pieces of furnishings are as old as our grandmother, all of which have their own story. All of this, of course, was edited by the owners with sophisticated taste. The interior rustic, raw wood panels make the hut really naturally warm and an integral part of the surrounding forest. A stylish kitchenette, a queen-size bed and a real, classic wooden bathtub tempt us invitingly to relax and to detoxicate digitally a little. From Leányfalu we can reach the peak of Vörös-kő (Red Stone) within a light tour, providing one of the most beautiful panoramas of the Danube Bend.

    Mitlaker, Kismaros: Just no hurry

The tiny, Scandinavian wooden house for two was built on the great grandfather’s heritage, which welcomes people longing for nature throughout the year at the gates of Börzsöny and 10 minutes from the Danube. In the 20-square-meter interior, most of the furniture was made of using timber from the heritage. In the name of an environmentally conscious approach, the owners also tried to avoid the use of plastics and chemicals that pollute the environment. A huge wood-panelled terrace, hammocks placed in the groves of Turkey oaks and a classic fireplace increases the northern feeling. On request, they can also serve breakfast, provided by the Local Café in Zebegény, made from local products. The garden is separated from the hiking trails of the Danube-Ipoly National Park by a periodic watercourse stretching in a ditch several meters deep.

Naphegy (Sun mountain), Zebegény: The serenity therapy

This lavishly dreamt hideout is hiding in one of the recessed corners of Zebegény. With its rustic interior, it evokes the interior of a luxury apartment from Southeast Asia, as much as that the furniture includes both Thai and Indonesian pieces. Yet their owners are most proud of their bathroom, the entrance of which is protected from the outside world by a handmade teak door. A sauna, a hot tub, a candlelit bath and outdoor covered sun loungers welcome those who wish to relax. If you want to go boating or swimming, you can do so in a guest-friendly environment on the Danube bank in Zebegény, which is a short walk away.
