Forest Accommodation in the Danube Bend II.

  • DunakanyarGO
As mankind is approaching technological singularity, the desire to return to nature is growing stronger in us. In Börzsöny and Pilis hills, we find more and more accommodations where we can retreat from the bustle of the city, and we can remind ourselves how beautiful it is, when our boots are muddy, when instead of the noise from trucks we are wakened by chiffchaffs, and instead of petrol vapour we breath fresh forest air.

A Ház (The House), Kismaros - hideout in Börzsönyliget

Small house, sauna, woods – hearing these, most of us associate them with Scandinavia. However, to find all these, it’s enough to travel fifty kilometres from Budapest and hide in one of the secret corners of Kismaros. The four-person weekend house with a typical, steeply pitched roof was revived according to the owners’ neat, simple and natural vision. The materials used fit well into the landscape, since The House was built of andesite from Márianosztra, while the interior is dominated by wood. The real, wood-burning outdoor sauna can make our northern sense of life perfect when we have finally got a good night’s sleep in the beam bed. Breakfast made of local ingredients is smuggled in front of our door by Helyben Coffee Shop, if we place the order the day before.

A Kisház (The Tiny House)- the island of peace in Zebegény

“Zebegény is a good place even in bad weather,” says the poem of Gellért Himmer on the website of the Tiny House. It’s not hard to win from here, as from the gingerbread house built on Akác Hill, it’s possible to see the amazing panorama of the Danube Valley, and the picturesque village sitting in it. In the Tiny House, it’s not possible to hurry or rush, because it makes no sense. Looking at the evening sun reflected by the water of the river involuntarily awakens Coelho hiding in us, and a flood of “likes” is guaranteed under the Instagram photos posted from this place. The accommodation providers also welcome children and dogs.

Treestyle Zebegény – Trust us, everything is beautiful from above!

Treehouse, jacuzzi on the terrace, panoramic view of the Danube Bend. If only two of these are met, we can be sure that an unforgettable experience awaits us. We can find a real elf home in this miracle hut built on a tree eight metres above the ground, rendered unique by the design and materials perfectly fitting in the atmosphere of Börzsöny’s forests. So much that forest birds, squirrels and deer are everyday visitors around here.  Turn off the outside world and your interior world turns on!

Szarvashegy Panoráma Apartman, Szentendre - Close to the city, far from everyday life

If we should describe Szarvashegy in one word, that would be ‘pampering’. The apartment complex located right next to Pilis Park Forest, twenty-five kilometres from Budapest, and eight kilometres from Szentendre’s downtown is a worthy example of perfectly neat luxury comfort. We can admire the endless panorama either from the bed or from the outdoor jacuzzi, as one side of the apartment is exclusively made of glass. All the apartment is dominated by light and natural wooden surfaces, which makes us feel heavenly. Don’t forget to clink glasses!

Odu House, Verőce - View to the Danube Bend

The most beautiful view on the left bank of the Danube Bend can probably be seen from the Odu House. From here, we might see the world like a huge model table, where the heavens play an aesthetic board game. As the name implies, in Odu House we find a small hole for ourselves everywhere (odú means hole in Hungarian, especially where animals live). The inner spaces with rambling rooms make this unique style accommodation so exciting for explorers. Playground, yoga camp, or resting place for large families – no matter how we think about it, you’ll find your accounts in the possibilities provided by the organic environment. Wherever we look, dozens of windows let our eyes gaze off into the distance. In the house’s bird-friendly garden, while having barbecue, we can test how many bird calls we can learn!
