      Treehouses in Noszvaj

To relax in inspiring surroundings, it is also worth a trip to Noszvaj, just a few kilometres from Eger. Among other things, this town is famous for the freshest air in the country, and among the canopies of trees, you will find an unadulterated luxurious environment for the perfect recharge. TreeHouses is a complex of holiday homes with character and blending into the landscape, located in the southern valley of the Bükk Mountains, next to the Síkfőkút lakes. The site’s luxury cabins have been available to try out since December 2017. They started with four units, but thanks to their great success, three more cabins have been built since that time. The canopy houses have been designed to create high quality houses that blend well with the forest environment, and the accommodation is specifically designed for couples looking for a retreat. Each unit has a private outdoor hot tub on the terrace. And, if that’s not enough, the interiors of the tower-shaped canopy houses are complemented by a private infrared sauna, and for those who want a communal experience, a panoramic sauna with a magnificent view of the Síkfőkút lakes.

Sziklák (‘Rocks’) cabins in the Balaton highlands

In partnership with TreeHouses, the creators of the highly successful canopy houses in Noszvaj, Hello Wood architecture studio has created a unique accommodation: six rock-shaped design cabins and a reception building connected by a wooden promenade in a hidden corner of the Balaton Highlands, on the service site of a former farmstead, Csórompuszta. The essence of the cabin house or “tiny house” approach is to create a quality architectural space in a minimal area, where every square centimetre has its exact place, everything is thought out: no unnecessary spaces, no overgrown lines. The look of the Rocks is of course inspired by its surroundings, with the grey masses of the building opening up only at the incision of the terrace and entrance, the sculptural form is not broken by any hatches or staircase. The view overlooks the surrounding fields and rolling hills, so guests relaxing in the houses will not notice anything of their neighbours.

      Mountain Cabin, Zebegény

Rising in the picturesque landscape of the Danube bend, the Mountain Cabin was a true love project. László Szűr-Szabó and his interior designer wife, Nikolett Budai, used to run a design shop, and then, inspired mainly by Austrian and Slovenian examples, they started to study the cabins. The site of the Mountain Cabin used to be a Czechoslovakian wooden house of about 15 square metres, which was completely demolished. Here was built the two-bedroom light-construction house with a wonderful panorama, which has been welcoming visitors ever since. The furnishings are inspired by their old Danish and Swedish suppliers, combining Scandinavian simplicity with the cosiness of a mountain guesthouse. The “reading corner” has a large selection of books and a large glass surface that lets the view of the Danube bend into the living room in all its glory.

Ég & Föld Borvendégház (‘Sky & Earth’ Wine Tavern’) in Szekszárd

Richárd Nemes originally designed the wine tavern on the Bakta hilltop for himself, but by the time it was finished, it had already proved too small for his growing family – much to the delight of those who have been visiting or considering a visit since 2015. Following the demolition of the original house, he and his German architect friend designed the Sky & Earth Wine Tavern, named after the cool wine cellar under the house and sunny gallery with beautiful views. The interior reflects the couple’s own taste: understated, charming and minimalist, with functional furnishings and maximum use of space. In the garden around the house, Richard has his own organically cultivated vineyards, which produce a delicious Blaufränkisch wine every year, without any additives.
