Our favourite sauna infusions with the power of nature

Aquaticum in Debrecen is not just worth visiting for the sauna, but it is definitely a must-try if you are here! In this special wellness kingdom, you can enjoy a relaxing, hygienic environment, without wearing a swimsuit, while keeping the values ​​of European sauna culture in mind.

The qualified, internationally recognized sauna masters prepare special sauna programmes every day of the year: from classic infusions to herbal, modern or meditation experiences, the offer is truly wide. You can take part in spectacular show and “freestyle” programmes, or if you want a quieter experience, you can relax in the “banja” and skin-pampering “peeling” ceremonies. In addition to the permanent programmes, thematic sessions are also regularly held at Aquaticum: such as spiritual women's evenings, marathon weekends or large-scale sauna festivals. One of our favourites is the monthly Thermal & Beer programme, during which you can take part in special, thematic infusions, with longer opening hours.

Many people consider “Magyarhertelend to be the cradle of Hungarian sauna culture.” It is no coincidence: the Hertelend Thermal Bath and Sauna Park was among the first in Hungary to introduce textile-free sauna use, and the first sauna capable of accommodating 50 people was built here. In the Hertelend sauna park, you can detox every day of the week except Monday: there are quiet sessions, relaxing programmes, or even “more lively” sessions. Among the programmes, you can find ice, beer or birch sessions, smoke rituals, and singing bowl meditation. They also hold exclusive sauna evenings, where only female guests are welcomed, and the sauna masters are also women.

The programmes are typically longer than in other sauna places; they usually last for 13–15 minutes. The design of the sauna allows for the application of the heat-raising technique, so the last infusions of the day are extremely hot, sometimes even borderline hot. In addition to the fact that Magyarhertelend is one of the most significant sauna centres in our country, the environment is also special. In the small jewel box located on the side of the Mecsek, a sense of calm and “I am at home” settles in almost immediately.

The sauna world of the Sárvár Thermal and Wellness Bath is a year-round haven for those who like to detoxify in the Finnish way. Following the traditions, you can take a sauna in Sárvár in the spirit of harmony and naturalness: there are no costume shows, instead you are treated to relaxation, physical and mental recharge, and creams and body scrubs made with Sárvár thermal water, with the atmosphere and scents of the given season. The sauna masters create a unique experience every time: they enchant those who come to the session with lights, essential oils, ice and music.

The sauna world of the Sárvár Thermal and Wellness Bath is exclusively available to adults, and the infusions take place without a swimsuit, in a sauna sheet, following the traditions of Western sauna culture. The bath also hosts themed sauna evenings.

At Szalajka Liget Hotel, you can not only detox, but also be part of a consciously constructed sensory adventure. In the complex, you can relax in a forest wood-panelled sauna house, which is a truly special place: in the separate outdoor wood-fired Finnish sauna, you can take part in thematic séances, and after leaving the cabin, you can relax in the fresh forest air.

The sauna séances consist of two fifteen-minute heating sessions followed by a rest period – this is about an hour-long programme led by the sauna master. In addition to the fantastic aromas and carefully dosed hot air, the speciality of the Szilvásvárad infusions is the wonderful “background”. While you detoxify, you can admire the magical forest panorama.
