There are times when you prefer sheep bleating instead of traffic noise, and stargazing instead of watching TV in the evening during your vacation. It is no shame if you do not feel like going on a city-discovery tour or cramming visiting the area's attractions into a single day. Without any need for completeness, we have selected a few accommodations where you can lie down on the swing bed or in the hot tube far from the noise of the world and admire the sun setting behind the hillside for a long time.

Málna Major, Mályinka

Mályinka is a picturesque small settlement located at the foot of the Bükk Mountains, along the mountain road that crosses Bükk. The area was already inhabited in prehistoric times, the name of the settlement comes either from “mál” meaning "hill-side" or the word “málna” (raspberry). According to another legend, the name Mályinka may come from the word play Majorka. Once the settlement functioned as the farm (in Hungarian “major”) of Dédesi Castle, but because it was so small, people called it Majorka (“Small Farm”). This was transformed over time into Mályinka.

Málna Major is a wonderful, friendly little house on the edge of the village, on the hilltop. On one side, the gentle slopes of the wide horizon, where silence, tranquillity and peace dwell, on the other side, the mountains and forests of Bükk look back at us. The house has a spacious garden with a large forest pine in it, and beyond the fence, another nearly 1,000 m2 of private grass area is waiting for us to take possession of. Being close to nature is a given: we can spend the evenings outdoors, or on colder days in the living room, next to a crackling fire in the fireplace. It can be a great recreation for families of 6-8 people or groups of friends in an idyllic village environment. In the garden of the dog- and child-friendly farm, there is also an outdoor, heated hot tub with a whirlpool. It is interesting that 200 kg of muddy Parajd salt "preserves" the water. Due to the high salt concentration, pathogens cannot multiply, algae do not form in high heat and it does not freeze in the harshest cold. Thanks to the salt, primordial sea mud is deposited on the seating surfaces and floor of the tub: it is a great feeling to feel the fine layer of mud under your feet while bathing!

In the few days spent here, we can experience the soul-healing effect of nature and silence. Far from the noise of the city, in the rural atmosphere, completely different values become important than in which we usually exist.

ZebRegény Guest House, Zebegény

The picturesque Zebegény is a great choice if the Danube Bend is your destination. In this wonderful small settlement, we can find many accommodations on the Danube, but we have plenty of options to choose from in the town and on the hilltop - you will not be disturbed by traffic or the noise of the town anywhere. In the central, but quiet street of the settlement, we find the ZebRegény Guest House, which was decorated with exceptional taste by its decorator owner. The mother of four children turned the more than 100-year-old house into a wonderful, friendly accommodation for 4 people, the greatest value of which is the veranda in front of the winery row.

“During the renovation, we did a lot of things ourselves: my friends and I dug the foundation, moving about 40 cubic meters of earth. The kitchen counter was assembled from the beams of the old roof, the furniture was mostly made from the furniture found here, repainted, slightly reworked, supplemented with treasures found on the online marketplace," says Andrea Ott, the owner.

The guest house is ideal for 4 people, equipped with a baby bed, baby bath, and high chair as needed. There is also a fire pit and deckchairs in the garden, seasoned with unadulterated peace of Zebegény. We can rent electric bicycles in the guest house, together with a child seat. It is worth taking advantage of the opportunity to cycle, as there are excellent bicycle paths in the area.

Grafit Kabin, Nagykanizsa

On the edge of Nagykanizsa, in the area next to the boating lake, beyond the noise of the town, we find the Grafit Kabin. The special A-frame type house, hidden in the embrace of the forest, can sweep you off your feet already with its appearance, but the exterior is not everything: this accommodation has so much more in store for us! As in the case of the ZebRegény Guest House, the Grafit Kabin can also be accessed via a ladder to the loft, where a playful, intimate sleeping snug awaits the little ones.

The special feature of the house is that thanks to the wall consisting almost entirely of glass there is a wonderful view of the lake shore and the forest not only from the embankment, but also from the living room.

Our relaxation is also helped by a number of extra services: we can lie down in the relaxation net in the loft, splash around in the jacuzzi or build a fire in the garden. As soon as the children have fallen asleep, we can open a great wine, which is just waiting to be a companion for conversations that stretch into the evening under the starry sky. During the day, there are also many programme options in the area for families who want to relax actively: you can visit one of the country's highest viewpoints, the Viewpoint of Nagykanizsa, walk down to the nearby boating lake, or walk along the Bird Forest Nature Trail and the Kászó Foliage Nature Trail to get to know the special bird species of the Zala region. For those who want more extreme adventures, we heartily recommend climbing the Kőszikla gorge in Nagybakónak, from which a special series of iron ladders lead up the sandstone walls.
