Benkó Zoltán Leisure Centre – Kölyökdomb, Kecskemét

One of the most exciting playgrounds in Kecskemét and its region is Kölyökdomb, a handicapped-accessible, integrated playground where every child has the opportunity to have fun. The 10,000 square metre area of the leisure centre was specifically designed so that children with disabilities can also have a full-fledged play experience. The playground includes slides, net climbing frames, rope swings, a climbing wall and water play elements. On one side of the area there is a wooded, grove-like relaxation zone, where you can relax on shady benches, and you can also take longer walks in the 174-hectare park of the leisure centre. Several running and walking trails lead through the park, which run through forested areas and along the lakeshore. The largest lake system in the region is also located in the area, which is also worth a visit when you are in Kecskemét!

Buba Éneke (Buba's Song) playground, Hévíz

Shady, friendly and clever, just like the poems of Sándor Weöres! The fairy-tale elements come to life before our eyes at the Buba Éneke playground, where little ones can adventure on carved wooden climbing frames and flowery meadows. At the playground located on the outskirts of the town, you can listen to the whistling of the golden oriole while having fun, and you can also relax at a bench. Here, it seems that everything is slower and more fairy-tale. In the 1,500 square metre playground, there are cradle swings, see-saws, climbing walls, spring toys and relaxation areas for families. Even in hot weather, it is worth visiting this children's kingdom located in green environment, and if you get thirsty, you can refill our bottles from the drinking-fountains!

Hello Hungary tip: If you are looking for a bigger challenge, visit the Tavirózsa (Water-lily) Adventure Park on the outskirts of Hévíz, where little ones can test their courage on slide courses of various difficulty levels and a traditional rope course. And for those children who are preparing to become car racers: there is also a go-kart track next to the adventure park!

A playground by the Danube, Nagymaros

Amazing romance in a child-friendly guise – this is what awaits you on the Danube promenade with its magical panoramic view in Nagymaros. Next to the Picnic Manufactory, you find a renovated playground, where not only diverse play elements can be enjoyed, but also one of the most beautiful views of our country, with the Visegrád Citadel in the background. This is a real paradise for children: there are plenty of games here, from a boat climbing frame to a sandbox to a light train. Adults can watch the ships passing by on the Danube while relaxing. Right next to the slides, you can find the child-, dog- and vegetarian-friendly Picnic Manufactory, which evokes the atmosphere of a ruin pub, where the atmosphere is family-friendly, they offer craft beer on tap, and the soups and the one-course dishes are divine! The place also regularly organizes concerts, fairs and music evenings, so it is worth checking their event calendar. And if you have played enough and eaten enough, do not miss the boat tour, which also stops in Nagymaros!

Hello Hungary tip: On Saturdays, it is worth visiting the Farmers' Market in Nagymaros, where you can find quality, handmade goods from local producers. Among other things, you can "loot" smoked meats, fruit, jams, honey, eggs, dairy products and vegetables, as well as souvenirs.

Kalandváros (Adventure Town), Szombathely

Kalandváros, hidden on the edge of the town in Szombathely, is a true paradise for experiences – not only for children, but for everyone who loves to slide, climb, move, spin and laugh. The thematic playground, located on one hectare, is divided into several zones, so everyone from the youngest to the oldest can find a challenge and fun in it. Slides, suspension bridges, rope courses, skill games and a 27-metre wooden castle complex also enrich the repertoire of Kalandváros. In warmer months, we heartily recommend the water playground, and in the swing park, even the physically disabled can experience the magic of self-forgetting play. Group activities are also held in the park, and there is even enough space for ball games. Meanwhile, parents can relax on the shady benches in the area or join a game.

A few minutes walk away you will find the Karamell Confectionery and Café, where you can enjoy excellent pastries and artisanal ice creams. The blueberry with goat cheese, for example, is a top-notch, but you must also try the world champion Frutta di Pistacchio!

1 Folly Arboretum and Winery, Badacsonyörs

It is not by chance that the Folly Arboretum in Badacsonyörs is called the “Garden of Eden of Lake Balaton” – this five-hectare evergreen garden truly exudes a paradise atmosphere! In the arboretum, founded by Dr. Gyula Folly, a doctor from Pécs, you can not only wander among special perennials, deciduous trees and conifers, but also admire the internationally renowned collection of juniper trees. The arboretum is home to all the cypress species in the world, as well as all four basic species of cedars.

The place is also particularly child- and family-friendly: you can find unique garden toys along the way, so while you enjoy the magical panorama of Lake Balaton and the fragrant cavalcade of colours, the children can crawl, climb, or even set their own records on the giant slide. It is also worth climbing to the lookout tower and then walking back to the restaurant in the visitor centre, where you can choose from excellent, seasonal dishes, sip a pine bud syrup, or have a divine Folly ice cream, relaxing in comfortable lounge chairs.
