Our favourite water playgrounds on the shores of Lake Balaton

A water playground hidden among shady trees awaits children near the Ferenc Csík Promenade in Keszthely. In the free park next to the Pavilion row, you can find fantastic, interactive water games. The canals, hand water pumps, mills and sluice systems give children the opportunity to learn about the physical properties of water through play, so they can not only have fun, but also learn while having fun! While the children immerse themselves in the unusual “physics lesson”, adults can cool off on benches in the relaxation area. The games are mostly suitable for school-age children, but there is also a baby swing and a sandbox, so the little ones do not have to be left at home. The area is also extremely family-friendly, so you can even spend a whole day relaxing in the water. Attention, it is highly recommended to prepare for your Keszthely adventure with a change of clothes!

The House of Waters Adventure Park, which opened on the border of Siófok and Zamárdi, is also in the top list of water parks on the shores of Lake Balaton. This complex is not a traditional playground, but an interactive water world, where children can discover the playful power of water along natural streambeds and artificial watercourses. Children can learn about the physics of water by trying out canals, watermills, lock systems, and bridges and culverts built from natural materials. The park aims to demonstrate the role of water in nature, while providing the opportunity for self-forgetting play. The park also includes shaded resting areas, a showroom, and a nature conservation trail, which are also worth trying out!

One of the most best, largest and best-equipped outdoor beaches on the southern shore of Lake Balaton is Platán Beach in Balatonboglár, which has been awarded the “Blue Flag” qualification every year. There are fantastic playgrounds and sports fields next to the beach, which offer recreation opportunities for young and old. In addition to the basketball and beach volleyball courts, there is an outdoor fitness park, a football tennis court and the “Balaton” playground can also be found here. The creative, colourful sandbox created for the 2-10 year old age group has the shape of our favourite lake, and the little chairs on its edge bear the names of the surrounding settlements. The little ones can have fun on the beach area for free, but it is worth buying a ticket to the Bubble Adventure Bath, which offers exciting recreation for all ages with its adventure pool, giant slide and water games!

Hello Hungary tip: There are many options for eating and drinking at Platán Beach! On the buffet line, it is worth trying the smoked duck chimney cake at the Bundi Bijó Bar, and the hot kiss of Balaton at Tejvirág Ice-Parlour! And if you want a spritzer, there are a number of excellent Balatonboglár wineries represented on the wine row.

In Fonyód, near the waterfront, there is a particularly modern water playground, where spectacular, interactive elements await children. In the water area of ​​the Panorama Beach, which can be visited for an entrance fee, the little ones can experience how water can be moved and directed with the help of moving water wheels, water flows and pumps. The water playground around the pirate ship with a slide is undoubtedly one of the coolest child-friendly places on the southern shore of Lake Balaton! The playground is special because it offers a beautiful view of Badacsony – parents can also enjoy the panorama from the benches while the children play carefree. The sandy, beachy waterfront is also particularly child-friendly, the water of the lake deepens slowly, so even the smallest can safely splash around on the Fonyód beach. There are several sports fields for adults and older children; basketball, beach volleyball, beach soccer and badminton courts are also available.
