What exactly will we be discussing?

  • Lokalista – Have lunch like a local in Nagykanizsa!
  • Újváros Bisztró – Fine dining at lunchtime in Szarvas
  • KIOSK – A cosmopolitan meeting place in the heart of Budapest

A cosy spot for a set menu in the centre of Keszthely

Located next to the market in Keszthely, this cosy little restaurant is the perfect spot for brunch, dinner or a set lunch. Pajti originally started out as a new-wave café, but today it’s much more than that: the weekly menu features Eastern-inspired dishes, hearty soups, colourful bowls and mouth-watering wraps. The lunch set menu, consisting of soup and a main course, is available at a reasonable price, and it’s strongly recommended to book a table in advance. On cooler days, you can enjoy a bite to eat in the cosy interior, but when there’s sunshine, it’s well worth sitting outside.

Have lunch like a local in Nagykanizsa!

“Have lunch like a… local” – that’s the motto of Janka Gelencsér and Richárd Csillag from Nagykanizsa. The young owners also run a farmers’ market in the town, thus the ingredients come to the restaurant from a reliable source, straight from the producers. The two- or three-course menu features starters, soups, main courses and desserts, furthermore, there are always gluten-free and lactose-free options available. When the sun’s shining, why not sit out on the terrace for lunch? It’s also worth keeping an eye on the events calendar, as they regularly organise exhibitions, workshops and musical evenings.

Fine dining at lunchtime in Szarvas

You can enjoy a truly special culinary journey in Szarvas, on the banks of the Holt-Körös. At the MICHELIN Bib Gourmand-awarded Újváros Bistro, not only is the setting stunning, but so is the menu. If you’re in the mood for a meal, you can also enjoy the set menu on weekdays: from Wednesday to Friday, you can put together a two- or three-course lunch from the current selection of soups or starters, three main courses and a dessert. The menu features both Hungarian and international dishes and is updated weekly. It’s worth booking a table in advance for popular times.

A cosmopolitan meeting place right in the heart of the city centre

One of our favourite places to eat in the capital is Hubert Hlatky-Schlichter’s cosmopolitan restaurant, KIOSK. This modern, vibrant city-centre venue is an excellent place to meet up – and, incidentally, the lunch here is unrivalled! The culinary pedigree is clear: the quality of the newly opened, farm-to-table PAPI and the Michelin-starred Babel is also evident at KIOSK. The restaurant offers two- or three-course set menus, with dishes that can be freely customised from starter to dessert. The terrace is huge, therefore it’s well worth sitting outside during the warmer months, whilst it’s advisable to book a table during peak periods.

For business meetings, it’s worth choosing the impressive B.A.R. by KIOSK on Szalay Street, where daytime meetings can be held over an excellent breakfast, coffee or lunch. The kitchen operates under the KIOSK umbrella, under the professional guidance of executive chef Péter Balogh.

A MICHELIN-standard lunch menu in Debrecen

From Tuesday to Friday, alongside à la carte dishes, a seasonally changing lunch menu is also available at the IKON Restaurant & Lounge in Debrecen. At this MICHELIN-recommended restaurant, starters, main courses and desserts can be ordered as part of a two- or three-course menu, and – like almost everything prepared under the supervision or by the hand of Chef Ádám Thür – they are of outstanding quality! When the weather is fine, it’s well worth sitting out on the terrace and enjoying the sunshine to the sound of the midday bells.

Gastronomic adventures in Miskolc, recommended by MICHELIN

“We are the workshop of the Bükk Mountains!” – declares the team at Végállomás Bistro & Wine in Miskolc, where the region’s natural treasures are transformed into a unique gastronomic experience on the plate. Located near Diósgyőr Castle, in the building that once served as the terminus of the Lillafüred narrow-gauge railway, the bistro is just a quarter of an hour’s drive from Miskolc city centre. In Chef Ádám Darab’s kitchen, seasonal, local ingredients, the flavours of the Bükk forests and modern bistro cuisine come together. The menu is both homely and exciting: it is characterised by familiar flavours, creative pairings and original twists.

For Végállomás (meaning: ‘Final Stop’), Bükk is not merely a source of inspiration, but a veritable larder. The ‘Edible Forest’ concept brings together the forest’s unique ingredients, an appreciation of nature and gastronomy. This approach is reflected both in the restaurant’s kitchen and in its associated experiential programmes. As a result of consistent professional work, Végállomás features year after year amongst the restaurants recommended by the MICHELIN Guide. The Edible Forest initiative has also brought international recognition for sustainable tourism to the region in the 2026 Green Destinations competition.

On weekdays, they offer a ‘Business Lunch’ menu, which always includes a vegetarian option, whilst a separate menu is available for children. The drinks list also features outstanding choices – both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options – thus you can enjoy something special in your glass alongside your lunch.
