One of the oldest confectioneries of the country was established in 1840 by András Salis in Gyula. Much cherished by locals, the establishment still evokes the atmosphere of the Hungarian Reform Era, although the delicacies match the expectations of today with high quality pastries, boiled ice cream, bonbons and chocolates. Having coffee inside is an experience in itself because the interior is preserved in its original state and you can take a seat in authentic biedermeier sofas and armchairs. The confectionery functions as a museum as well, and among the exhibited objects there is an escritoire with a 32 pipe organ, the work the Viennese master, Josef Hain.
