Kripta-villa

Located on the southern part of the Szaplonczay Promenade in Fonyód, the Kripta Villa (Crypt Villa) is an exceptional attraction in more ways than one. On the one hand, you can enjoy the unparalleled panoramic view of Lake Balaton over a good coffee or a cake – even the sunset if you time it right – and on the other hand, its unique history still appeals to visitors with a romantic bent. The Crypt Villa, as its name suggests, is indeed a café established from a crypt: the building commemorates the tragic, unfulfilled love of Ödön Abrudbányai-Rédinger and Magdus, his fiancée. Below the café, on the ground floor of the building, you can also visit the Eternal Love Memorial Room.
