In September, at Dunakapu Square, cauldrons are steaming and frying pans are sizzling, with a different fish dish to try at every turn. At the Győr Fish Days, fish soups from Baja, Szeged, Lake Balaton and the Szigetköz region are served side by side, whilst catfish paprikash, fish burgers and other fish dishes are also on offer. This is a great opportunity to experience just how differently the same dish can be interpreted in different parts of the country. During the day, family and children’s activities accompany the tastings, whilst concerts take place in the evening. You don’t need any special plans: start the afternoon with a bowl of fish soup, then try something else at the next stall, and finish off with a concert near the banks of the Danube!
