The highlight of traditional treatments is the revitalizing medicinal water of Hévíz

It is not only how long we live that matters, but also the quality of our life. The concept of “longevity”, or a long and healthy life, emphasizes natural resources rather than medication. These include, for example, services and products based on medicinal water, one of the domestic centers of which is Hévíz.

What exactly will we be talking about?

  • Medicinal waters in Hungary
  • Hévíz, the source of life
  • Traditional treatment elements inside and out
  • Prevention and precaution are becoming increasingly important

There is still a widespread misconception that spa treatments are only for older people. However, one of the most effective natural treatments for musculoskeletal complaints, which have become increasingly common among younger people in recent decades, as well as pain caused by sedentary work and increased screen time, and circulatory problems, is medicinal water – even as a preventive measure.

The good news is that Hungary is the land of medicinal waters: almost wherever we go, we come across a spa.

To mention just a few examples from the countless possibilities: the waters of the Harkány Thermal Bath and Beach Bath or the Sárvár Thermal Bath and Wellness Center are excellent for joint and musculoskeletal complaints. The alkaline hydrogen carbonate water of Bükfürdő Thermal & Spa has outstanding healing properties, while the sulfur-rich alkaline composition of the medicinal water of Hévíz is also excellent for treating chronic gynecological complaints. There are also medicinal waters in Balf, Egerszalók, and Makó. Based on facilities, location, and type, we can effectively browse among the thermal water centers on the website of the Hungarian Bath Association.

Hévíz, the source of life

Did you know that...? The 4.4-hectare Lake Hévíz is the world’s largest volcanic, peat-mud, biologically active, natural thermal lake, fed by karst springs that are thousands of years old. The sulphurous water contains alkaline hydrocarbonate and is slightly radioactive, which is extremely effective in treating musculoskeletal disorders, as well as part of post-operative rheumatological, orthopedic, and musculoskeletal rehabilitation, and in treating chronic gynecological and dermatological complaints.

The medicinal waters of Hévíz have been part of Hungarian medical tradition for centuries, and are just as relevant today as they were in the past.

I believe that well-being is a need that is independent of age: it is just as much a right of the youngest as it is of the older generations. Some arrive with anxiety or mental stress, others seek relief from musculoskeletal complaints, while still others are attracted to Hévíz by the rehabilitation opportunities it offers. Within the walls of Le Primore Hotel & Spa, traditional Hévíz spa treatments are provided in a modern, luxurious wellness environment: we support the healing of the body, soul, and spirit with a holistic approach and the cooperation of trained professionals,” says Szilvia Farkas, manager of Le Primore SPA.

The world of thermal water treatments is surprisingly diverse and goes far beyond the experience of floating in thermal water. Classic balneotherapy procedures include, for example, weight baths, which help alleviate musculoskeletal complaints by gently stretching the spine, and various therapeutic pool treatments, where the buoyancy of warm water relieves pressure on the joints. The drinking cure, which is also well known in Hévíz, is based on the internal use of medicinal water and, with appropriate professional guidance, supports the functioning of the digestive system and metabolic processes. These are complemented by therapeutic mud wraps and hydrotherapy treatments, which, when used together and tailored to the individual, can be effective in the long run.

Traditional treatment elements inside and out

The beneficial effects of medicinal water are not limited to external use: in addition to drinking cures, it also plays a significant role in skin care. The uniqueness of the Hungarian brand Omorovicza lies in the fact that its products are based on extracts from the mud of Lake Hévíz, thus transferring the mineral power of the healing water into everyday skin care. Thanks to this, guests can experience the beneficial effects of Hévíz’s medicinal water both inside and out during Le Primore Hotel & Spa’s mud facial treatments or deep-tissue, regenerating facial treatments.

Our unique program is a 120-minute private hammam ritual, during which we work exclusively with Omorovicza’s product line developed specifically for Le Primore. Steam treatment and foam massage can also be supplemented with a singing bowl ritual upon request," adds Szilvia Farkas.

Prevention and precaution are becoming increasingly important

Due to constant stress and the increasing importance of “longevity”, more and more people – both young and old – are realizing that maintaining good health does not begin when symptoms appear. Prevention is becoming increasingly important: recognizing that regular regeneration, stress reduction, and paying attention to the body’s signals determine our quality of life in the long term. Therapeutic water treatments are particularly valuable in this regard, and Hungary’s unique hydrographic conditions make this form of treatment accessible to everyone.
