A meeting of romance and the Middle Ages: the ruins of the monastery founded by King Saint Ladislaus can be seen at the memorial site, less than half an hour’s drive from the southern shore of Lake Balaton. After a stroll among the silent piles of stones, the modern visitor centre is also worth a visit, where the past literally comes alive: an interactive exhibition presents the monastery’s everyday life. The nearby lookout offers a wonderful panoramic view of the countryside.
