An entire town district in Pécs commemorates one of Hungary’s most famous industrial success stories. On the 5 hectare site of the former Zsolnay factory, there are 15 listed buildings and 88 Zsolnay statues located in picturesque parks and promenades. The district, which grew out of the Zsolnay family’s heritage, is now a vibrant cultural centre, full of galleries, exhibitions, creative energy and exciting programmes. The “mini-city” is home to cosy cafés and craft shops, but the 1861 Glove Manufactory, the Bóbita Puppet Theatre, the E78 Conference Hall, the Labor Interactive Magic Square, the m21 Gallery and the Planetarium are also located here.
