The peace of wanderings in the Börzsöny

Lookout of Csóványos
If we head towards Csóványos, there are two options: we can follow the Blue Tour sign, but a classic round tour can also be created, which will take us up to the highest point of the mountain range, Csóványos (938 m - on a sunny day you can see all the way to the High Tatras), and then to Nagy-Hideg-hegy, where you can have a light rest in the tourist house standing there. It is interesting that several Hungarian tourist routes pass through Nagy-Hideg-hegy, so the tourist house can even serve as a base or accommodation for a multi-day walking or star tour.
The section is of medium difficulty, seasoned with minor and major ascents, but if you do not want to climb to the highest point of the mountain, Csóványos can be easily skipped. From Nagy-Hideg-hegy, you can also turn back towards Királyrét, where the lack of the Csóványos panorama can be made up for by the Várhegy lookout, which is only a half-hour walk from Királyrét and delights you with an eye-catching view on a clear day.
Királyrét also takes pride in a hiking centre, where you can find the Királyrét nature trail and the Királyrét Forest Railway, which is one of the oldest railways in our country and operates in the valley of the Morgó stream.
Törökmező Zoo
When roaming in the Börzsöny, whether you have a map or GPS or not, sometimes it is not easy to find the route, but the Törökmező Zoo is an unmistakable destination on the Blue Tour, which suddenly pops out of the trees while looking for the blue sign. Whether we found them on purpose or by accident, the lamas blinking in front of us are likely to bring a smile to our faces. In addition, you can meet not only lamas here, because this wonderland invites young and old to an animal adventure with its half a hundred exotic animals. We can see camels, kangaroos, pygmy goats, prairie dogs, emus, sometimes a feather-legged hen follows us, but if we simply fondle a domestic rabbit, a goat, a goose or a duck, we can do that too. Admission is free, group trips also can be organized with prior registration, and the gates are open to every interested person from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Nógrád Zoo
On the animal front, Börzsöny does not disappoint: at the foot of the mountain, you can stumble into new animals in the Nógrád Zoo. These four-legged animals roam freely, they are not even confined, so they can be easily admired from high-stands or even resting on the platform of a truck. This adventure can be especially enjoyed with children, as it offers an experience of a lifetime to observe the animals in their own environment. In the evening, you can even join the game feeding and watch undisturbed as the wild boars, roe-deer and deer eat their dinner in complete peace.
Szent Orbán Inn
If you do not want to return to the tourist house at the end of a busy day, but rather repose in bed, between pillows, or if you want to relax in wellness, you do not even need to leave the Börzsöny area, because the inn is located at the foot of the mountain, in the Kóspallag-Nagyirtáspuszta, just the in the middle of the forest. It may be interesting to note that not only hiking routes are popular in this area: the braver ones can even set off on two wheels, as the mountains surround a wonderful serpentine. If you like cycling or motorcycling, you can rest here after a full day's ride. The wellness hotel also regularly organizes its own tours (shorter and longer trips are also available), and welcomes its visitors with themed sauna sessions, a playhouse and bowling facilities.
Based on all of this, Börzsöny is a perfectly evergreen and popular place to relax and it can be visited every month of the year.
