Tatai vár

The only water castle in Hungary. The over 600-year-old castle, located on the shores of Lake Öreg in Tata, is open all year round. The Kuny Domokos Museum, located within the walls, tells the story of prehistoric times, as well as the ancient and medieval periods. There are many exciting programmes held on site, which you can find out about on the castle's Facebook page. If time permits, it is worth taking a walk around the lake, and if you get hungry on your way, there are several catering establishments next to the castle.
