As natural as it is today that one spends eight hours working a day, so too is our need for natural recreation. However, it matters a lot how we do it: alone, hidden from the world in a former bourgeois house, or in the silence of Börzsöny’s forest. Thank God, the Danube Bend has a lot of solutions and surprises for this!

Pampering à la Danube Bend: MoodHouse 2623, Kismaros

The owners set a no less ambitious goal than to dazzle guests with every small detail so that they could only say: WOW! Accordingly, the quality and quantity of services is comparable to those of a boutique hotel. They promise guests won’t need anything except for their personal belongings during their stay: the MoodHouse team will take care of everything! Therefore the place was designed for 2 people, who get full attention, luxury, recreation, comfort, cleanliness and solitude if they choose MoodHouse 2623 as destination.

The moderate aristocrat: ‘Völgyház’ (Valley House), Zebegény

The house was built in 1928 in Újvölgy (New Valley) Zebegény, and this can be perfectly felt from its atmosphere. In its stylish veranda, a bench restored to its original splendour waits so that, with a cool drink in our hand, we can breathe the surpassingly clean air of the valley, like the original residents did for medical indications in the past. The house’s interior reflects the harmony of old and restored things. The pastel colours, chosen with due care, fit well into the former bourgeois milieu’s elegant, yet not ostentatious, broken-white environment. The renovated vintage furnishings serve our comfort with their modest harmony, complemented by the modern objects adapted to today’s requirements. Following a plentiful breakfast let’s sit back, open our favourite Agatha Christie novel, and go back to the happy times of peace, which is, thinking it over, right around us in the Valley House of Zebegény.

Once upon a time...: ‘Mesebeli Vendégház’ (Fairy Tale Guesthouse), Kismaros

A former vacation home in the mysterious, hilly part of Kismaros called Börzsönyliget was re-imagined by the owners, where the beautiful little gingerbread house is nestled in a garden, surrounded by ancient trees. Smaller companies of up to six people can comfortably stay here. We can choose from an inventory of hiking trails, whether we want to go on a hiking trip in the forests of Börzsöny through Mount Gál, or visit Királyrét (King's Meadow) by narrow-gauge railway, or one can choose the Danube as destination.  By prior arrangement, the owners can organise a hiking trip, cycling or rowing on demand, after which we can relax in the infra sauna or in the hammocks hung on the oaks.

Venue of our most beautiful childhood summers: ‘Dunakavics vendégház’ (Dunakavics Guesthouse), Zebegény

As its name suggests, its a real little nook in the Danube Bend intended to remind us forever of the unforgettable times spent here, once we go home. Its special feature is that it’s located right on the bank of the Danube, so we can enjoy the Danube at Zebegény in the awakening spring, the busy summer or the quiet autumn or winter at a private beach. The house has a human-scale neat design, and radiates infinite tranquillity. Its owners are dedicated environmentalists who would like to convey this attitude to their visitors.

A bit of Alpine atmosphere: ‘Börzsönypagony Pihenőház’ (Börzsönypagony Rest-House), Kismaros

A forest accommodation recalling the style of steeply-pitched-roof guesthouses in the Tatra Mountains. Its details and accessories are like those in a home decor catalogue. Dark contours appear as a symbol of Börzsöny’s volcanic origins, and they are well counterpointed by the tastefully chosen light colours. Among the services of the guesthouse (able to host even four guests), a jacuzzi, Finnish sauna, mountain bike tour and hiking trip in Börzsöny are all included. At the same time, the centre of Kismaros can be reached within a few minutes. From here, basically any point of the Danube Bend is easily accessible by train, ship, bike or on foot.
