On the hill near the Zsolnay Cultural District, you can see the Zsolnay Mausoleum, the resting place of the Zsolnay family, in its original splendour, where 42 lions guard the secret of eosin. The mausoleum was built after the death of the factory founder Vilmos Zsolnay in 1900, by his son Miklós. The neo-Romanesque building includes a tomb chapel and a burial chamber below, with an ornate eosin sarcophagus and 32 coffin niches. According to legend, on the winter solstice, when the Sun is at its zenith, the incident light reveals the secret of eosin, which anyone can learn about at that time.
