Gyulai Várszínház

The Castle Theatre in Gyula is the oldest castle theatre in Hungary, operating since 1964 in the courtyard of the more than 600-year-old brick castle in Gyula. During the season lasting from the end of June to the middle of August, visitors are welcomed with colourful programmes almost every day: literature, jazz, contemporary theatre, folk dance, opera, historical dramas and world music are also included in the repertoire. The highlight of the all-arts programme series, which features nearly 40 productions, is the 3–5 own performances each year. But there is no shortage of programmes in autumn and winter: the season continues with chamber theatre performances in the colder months.
