Also known as the “Gibraltar of the Danube”, the Komárom fortress system is the largest modern fortress in Central Europe, consisting of three fortresses on the Hungarian side, and the 70-hectare Monostori Fortress is one of them: in the Military History exhibition, you can learn about the history of the Komárom castle and fortress system, in the Military Technology Park you can get a taste of Cold War weaponry, while the former military bakery tells the story of bread and the Hungarian baking industry. It is a special experience to walk along the ramparts, bastions and the 3 km long kasamata system.
