Siroki vár

Go for a hike along the River Tarna to Várhegy, on the border between the Bükk and Mátra mountains! Here stands the Sirok Castle, now 700 years old, one of Hungary’s most unique castles. Just imagine – parts of this castle were actually built right into the mountain itself! Exciting discoveries await in the casemates, the secret little passageways, the chimney flues and the steep paths. If you visit the exhibition, it’ll be easier to imagine what life must have been like here during the Turkish era. And just imagine! Legend has it that a tunnel connects this castle to Eger Castle. On a clear day, you can even see the snow-capped peaks of the Tatra Mountains.
