The historic site of Komárom was already home to strategically important defensive buildings during the Roman Empire. A smaller, but very special, star-shaped member of the fortress system is the Star Fortress. Situated south of the Danube, the system of battlements has undergone major renovations in recent years: a cultural centre, a modern exhibition space and the Museum of Fine Arts’ collection of sculptures of immense value.
