Harkány, Siklós and their surroundings, located in the Villány wine region, await visitors with a Mediterranean atmosphere, centuries-old historical monuments, and excellent bathing and sports opportunities.

Let's start our journey in Siklós, which was burnt into the retinas of a generation after the film series titled the Captain of Tenkes! Its castle is one of the most significant Hungarian Renaissance-style buildings, where in addition to military history, furniture and nationality exhibitions, you can also visit the dungeon.

In Siklós you can also find a monument from the Turkish era: the Malkocs Bey Mosque dates back to the middle of the 1500s, today it is a museum and a house of prayer. It is also worth visiting the Franciscan church founded in the 1300s and the Serbian Orthodox church.

One of the most important pilgrimage sites in Hungary, Máriagyűd, famous for its 17th-century apparitions of Mary, is just a stone's throw from Siklós. The Baroque-style Roman Catholic church was built by Franciscan monks in the 18th century. If you are here, be sure to see the open-air altar above the church and the Calvary built in 1751!

Refreshing medicinal waters

After the spiritual refreshment, you can refresh your body in the pools of the Thermal Spa Siklós. The spa, located next to the castle, is an experience for all ages. In addition to six adult and three children's pools, various adventure elements, a lazy river and two giant slides await guests.

Another famous spa in the area is the Harkány Thermal and Beach Spa, with over 7,500 square meters of water surface covering an area of 13.5 hectares which guarantees relaxation. Here you can find one of the largest slide parks in Southern Transdanubia: from the 15-metre-high structure, you can race down seven different slides with or without a mattress.

Rowing and cycling along the Dráva River

One of our most untouched rivers, the Dráva, flows just a few kilometres from Harkány on which you can choose from several organized rowing tours. From Barcs, you can reach Drávaszabolcs in three days, from where you can also go on a cruise on board the Szirén motorboat.

The area is also ideal for cyclists. Harkány and Siklós lie in the middle of the section of the route EuroVelo 13 between Barcs and Mohács, which was built along the former Iron Curtain, so you can set off on a marked cycling route both east and west. The sandbanks of the Dráva and the cormorant colonies in the gallery forests provide an unforgettable sight.

15 kilometres from Harkány, in Szaporca, you can find the Ancient Dráva Visitor Centre, presenting the natural values and traditions of the Ormánság region, with an interactive exhibition, a farm, educational trails and varied programmes.

The treasures of the "devil-ploughed" mountain

From Siklós, you can also reach Nagyharsány, located on the southern slope of the 442-metre-high Szársomlyó, on two wheels. The “devil-ploughed” mountain is a nature reserve, the special value of which is the protected Hungarian colchicum. You can discover the natural and cultural history of the mountain on a guided tour. There is also an open-air sculpture collection in a former quarry, and it is worth walking along the Kikerics panoramic promenade above it.
