23rd Balaton Marathon and Half Marathon – 2026

By mid-November, Lake Balaton presents a very different face to that seen in summer: the beaches grow quiet, and runners take the place of bathers along the shore. The organisers of the 23rd Balaton Marathon and Half Marathon are inviting sports enthusiasts to Siófok for two days to bring the running season to a close on the lakeside in autumn. In the race, which starts from the Petőfi Promenade, it’s not just performance that counts – runners can also enjoy the panoramic views of Lake Balaton whilst running. There are challenges ranging from the 7-kilometre run through the half-marathon right up to the full marathon; what’s more, some distances can be run in pairs or split into several stages. This means that even those who wouldn’t yet be ready to tackle a full marathon can get a taste of the experience of a major race. A unique finisher’s medal awaits participants at the finish line.
