Megyer-Hill Tarn is

located on a 324-metre-high mountainside, which was formed from a former millstone quarry.

After the mine was closed, rainwater filled the former pit due to the characteristics of the volcanic rhyolite tuff rock, creating the lake that can still be seen today, with a depth of up to 6.5 metres in places.

If you want to take a slightly longer hike, you can start from Sárospatak following the red sign, which leads up to the edge through forest areas. This route offers varied terrain in several sections, while providing beautiful views of the countryside. Information boards are also provided in some places to help you find your way around.

A special feature of Megyer-Hill Tarn is that via ferrata (iron path) sections have been created around the lake, which lead directly above the water and along the rock walls. There are several sections of varying difficulty to choose from, ranging in length from 25 to 200 metres, so it can be

The routes have playful names (such as Amphitheatre or Devil's Cauldron) and each offers a different challenge, while the view of the lake and the surrounding rock walls provides an unforgettable experience.
