As the world becomes digital, more and more of us discover the freedom of working online, which allows us to do our work anywhere in the world while exploring new places. The expression created for this lifestyle, digital nomad, surely sounds familiar to many people. We also tried our hand at the role, put the laptop bag on our shoulders and set off to discover the small and large towns of our country, which can perfectly serve the needs of an adventurous digital nomad.

First, we headed to the charming historic town of Eger, which promises to be a really attractive destination with its cultural heritage, gastronomic experiences and relaxed atmosphere.

If the day does not start without coffee

Let's start the day at the Fázis Koszt & Kávé, where the divine harmony of breakfast options, speciality coffees and small sweets awaits us, in a truly cozy and relaxed environment. The café was housed in a former factory building that once was operated by the North Hungarian Electricity Supply, hence the name Fázis (Phase). If the morning spurt is over, you can work in peace from one of the comfortable armchairs and enjoy smoothies and the varied dishes of the brunch. As a dog-friendly place, our four-legged friends are also welcomed.

And for those who do not like to prolong their morning coffee and want a really great wake-up call, the Kávésdoboz Coffee Bar & Deli can be the perfect choice. The café is famous for its baked goods and speciality coffees, as well as the delicatessen section, which offers products made from domestic ingredients.

Where we can work in peace

If you need a quieter environment, the Dots Coworking office provides an ideal location for intensive work in Tavassy Antal Street, close to the city centre. We can rent a table or even a meeting room in the neat office, where we can secure our place by pre-booking for a daily fee.

And for those who are more productive in a buzz, we recommend the Cafe Jardin's huge velvet armchairs, where the cozy environment makes work truly inspiring. Bonus: in case we need a little sweet to boost our energy levels, there are also nationally recognized specialties in the cake counter.

Cool places with affordable menus

When the stomachs are already grumbling, it is time to set off to look for lunch options. There are plenty of high-quality restaurants offering lunch menus at affordable prices, directly in the city centre, such as the Trifla Ivó és Konyha, one of Eger's gastronomic gems, where you can enjoy the flavours of the Bükk region in a family environment. The use of domestic ingredients provides a real culinary experience, and the plentiful and, last but not least, reasonably priced lunch menu, which is renewed every week, is a great choice any day.

If you want something simpler, then head to the Bodega Streetfood, where burgers and street food dishes inspired by the Pulp Fiction await guests. Slow-roasted BBQ meats and tasty desserts are mouth-watering.

A worthy end of the day

We finished work, and we can reach the historical part of the town with a pleasant walk, since Eger - due to its size - is easily walkable, it is not absolutely necessary to get in a car. If you want to let off steam at the end of a long working day, then head to ZuzmÓ BBQ & Craft Beer Pub, where craft domestic and Czech beers, classic pub food and BBQ are served, in a real funky atmosphere.

And if you want a truly special experience to crown the day, visit the recently opened Pont Gastroműhely at the foot of the Castle of Eger. After a pleasant evening walk in the old town, it can be the perfect place, where you can enjoy good company and a cozy environment in addition to dishes made from local ingredients and special wines of Eger.

Some extra chilling

If you still have some energy left, you can visit the Nosztalgia Bath in Egerszalók, where you can enjoy bathing in the outdoor hot water pools that evoke the atmosphere of the 70s and 80s every day until 11 pm.

Eger really comes up to the expectations related to it: work and rest are harmoniously combined, it can be an ideal destination for all digital nomads, if we were to move our "office" for just one day, it would still be worth a visit.
