Szalay Ibolya

Poroszló is not a boisterous place, but that is precisely what makes it so magical. Here, Lake Tisza is not a minor character, but a main character: while rowing, reeds brush against you, you rock gently on houseboats, and then, at the Eco-Centre, nature literally swims beneath you. This place is the perfect choice when you have had enough of "must-do" type excursions. There is no need to rush in Poroszló, but you will not be bored either; if you are open to water, silence, and have a little thirst for adventure, you are in the right place.

Why Poroszló? When Lake Tisza slows you down

Poroszló is one of the friendliest gateways to Lake Tisza. It is not crowded, yet it has everything you need to find things to do both on water and on land. This is the starting point for exciting rowing tours, home to the Eco-Centre, and if you decide to just look around, this place is also the perfect choice.

Here, you will not feel overwhelmed if "nothing" has happened by two in the afternoon.

Kayaking among the reeds

The Poroszló area of Lake Tisza is also an ideal choice for beginner kayakers: calm waters, winding channels, exciting bird sounds – this is what curious visitors can expect.

From a kayak, you can really see what Lake Tisza is like from the inside.

If you set off at dawn, the lake shows a completely different face, but the experience is also very intense around sunset.

By a houseboat on Lake Tisza: from Sarud to Poroszló, living on the water

If a houseboat has only been a dream for you so far, this dream can very quickly become a reality on Lake Tisza. What is more, you do not need a boating license or previous experience; all you need to do is let go of the pace dictated by the land. Houseboating is not a performance tour, but a slow drift.

The Sarud area is particularly suitable for those who want to disappear from the world for a while: spacious water surfaces, quiet bays and stretches of bank where there is nothing but reeds, water and the sky. KalandPart houseboats are designed specifically for this experience. They are ideal for two people, compact yet comfortable. They have a covered area that can be opened depending on the weather, a lockable cabin, a place to sleep, basic cooking equipment, and even a composting toilet;

in other words, everything is provided to allow you to enjoy your time on the water without compromise.

The boats are slow-moving, easy to handle, and there is no fixed route: you go wherever you want. You can moor at a quiet stretch of bank, have coffee on deck, watch the birds, or simply watch the light playing on the water.

Lake Tisza Eco-Centre: when the picture comes together

The Lake Tisza Eco-Centre in Poroszló is much more than just a must-see attraction on the map. This is a place where you can not only admire the beauty of the landscape, but also understand the lake. In the giant aquariums, you can see up close the fish species you share the water with while rowing, and the inscriptions in the exhibition spaces do not list bare facts, but tell stories.

The nature trails, bird watching points, and lookout towers in the outdoor areas are not only interesting for nature lovers. Once you have walked through them, you will see the landscape in a different light,

understand how this living system works, and why it is so special.

The harmonious unity of Poroszló, Sarud and Lake Tisza

Whether you wander the area, the streets of Poroszló or Sarud on foot, or take to the water on Lake Tisza in a kayak or houseboat, you can have an unforgettable experience in an environment where you can leave your everyday worries behind and become part of nature. In this part of Lake Tisza, it is not the packed programme that will make your vacation memorable, but the way you experience the time you spend there.
