Adventures in the Bakony Mountains, with an extra dose of adrenaline

One of the safest choices – if you want to treat not just the kids but yourselves as well – is to choose an adventure park for the family, perhaps as a weekend outing. There are numerous excellent parks across the country that are worth trying at least once in your life! One of the most exciting of these is the Sobri Jóska Adventure Park, located in Kislőd near Ajka, north of Lake Balaton. Named after the Bakony’s legendary outlaw, it offers adventure for young and old alike across 30 hectares.

As befits a true adventure park, there are plenty of challenges here that require a good dose of courage: forest obstacle courses, extreme zip lines, ATV trails, a water obstacle course, jet skis – and the list goes on and on. The zip line is especially recommended for adults (and the truly daring), where you can zoom along at speeds of up to 80 km/h for a full kilometer – and there’s even the option to zip down at night! And once you’ve had your fill of adrenaline, it’s worth visiting the petting zoo, trying out the 5D movie theatre, or relaxing at the cozy Vashámor Restaurant.

Jungle adventure and relaxation in Miskolctapolca: Avalon Resort & SPA

If you’re looking for a place where every member of the family can find something to do, consider the Avalon Resort & SPA in Miskolctapolca. Located near the Bükk Mountains, this complex lets kids feel like they’re on a real jungle expedition at the 2,500-square-meter Maya Playground and the 400-square-meter indoor Jungle Playhouse, where – thanks to the slides, interactive games, and climbing courses, putting them to bed in the evening won’t be a long process.

To the delight of older kids – and dads – Avalon Park is home to Hungary’s most modern electric go-kart track! On this 580-meter-long track with a technically challenging layout, you can test your skills in timed races while reaching speeds of up to 60 km/h in single- or two-seater go-karts. Interestingly, thanks to the spectacular LED lighting, you can even take part in night races after dark!

After a busy day full of activities, you can relax in the indoor and outdoor wellness areas of the Avalon SPA, or retreat to one of the family suites or the separate, exclusive log cabins in the woods, all of which were completely renovated in 2026.

Unforgettable water adventures at Aquaticum in Debrecen

If you’re visiting Debrecen, it would be a shame to miss one of the country’s most outstanding water parks, the Aquaticum! This 1,900-square-meter adventure complex, evoking a Mediterranean atmosphere and featuring both indoor and outdoor facilities, offers unforgettable fun for young and old alike. The indoor Mediterranean Water Park welcomes visitors every single day of the year: children can splash around in 15 different pools, while adults can immerse themselves in the tranquillity of the wellness and sauna area or relax in the therapeutic thermal pools of varying temperatures. There’s no shortage of things to discover: from the huge children’s playground to the dragon slide, the lazy river, and the wave pool, all the way to the glass-bottomed pool, countless adventures await.

When the weather turns nice, the outdoor beach area rounds out these nearly endless experiences. The little ones can explore the inflatable boat dock, adventure pool, and splash zone, while adults can unwind on the 12-meter-high panoramic terrace and at the cozy pool bars. There’s so much to do that it’s almost impossible to fit everything into a single day, so it’s worth booking a room at the spa’s own hotel, the Aquaticum Hotel & Spa, and planning a multi-day getaway in Debrecen. This way, you’ll not only have plenty of time to fully recharge, but you’ll also have a good chance to comfortably try out every attraction.

What’s more, the picturesque Nagyerdő (Great Forest) stretches right next to the spa. If you’re in the mood for some cultural experiences, just hop on a tram and head into the charming city center!

Summer thrills and panoramic views at Zemplén Adventure Park

If you’d like to add a dash of adrenaline to your family vacation, head to Sátoraljaújhely. Zemplén Adventure Park is one of the country’s most diverse active adventure centres, offering a new challenge for every day of summer break.

The more daring can race down Hungary’s longest bobsled track, which is about 2.2 kilometres long, while on the extreme zip line, you can whiz through the mountains at speeds of up to 80 km/h.
