Másik történet (‘Another story’)
After a career as an interior designer, Andrea Farkas, the founder of Másik történet antiques’ shop, has found her new vocation in the world of online antiques trading. Her passion for stories in objects began as a child, starting with a diary in which she began drawing her own designs at the age of ten. And the objects that became a dominant feature of her life deepened her attachment to antiques.
The idea for the Másik történet took many years to conceive and matured through Andrea’s love of old objects. She recognized that even in minimalist interiors, there could be a need for something antique to liven up and loosen up the space. In 2020, she decided to set up her online antiques shop and her project has successfully grown and prospered.
The objects are also sold on Instagram, which creates an almost paradoxical, strange contrast between the objects of the past century and the digital world of the 21st century. This contrast highlights the uniqueness and attractiveness of the objects. Andrea admits that she is increasingly finding that people are looking for originality, which is why they find inspiration on Pinterest and Instagram, where they can order their new home gem right away.
If you would like to see the objects in person, and like to wander around antiques and treasures – you can find the Másik történet’s offline shop at 43 Rozmaring Street in Győr. Here, you can read or listen first-hand to the sometimes hilarious stories behind the objects, and you can also touch and look at your favourite pieces.
Learning about the history of an object is an important aspect in the life of a business, so when they become interested in an object, they are always curious about its origins, its previous owners, or even its journey from owner to owner. The descriptions next to the objects are entirely realistic and therefore personal yet exciting.
The Másik történet is not just an online antiques shop, but a platform where the stories behind antiques and their connection to people are highlighted. Andrea is committed to sharing the living stories of old objects with her customers, creating unique and interesting experiences for both the seller and the buyer.
Csigó Malom (‘Csigó Mill’)
Katalin Bartunek’s big dream came true when she came across the dilapidated Csigó Malom building in Gyulakeszi, which she fell in love with at first sight and immediately started renovating. Soon one of the most important meeting places for art lovers in the Tapolca basin opened its doors and has been welcoming visitors for a decade and a half.
In the mill, alongside the cultural centre, you can also find an antique shop called the Stílus Galéria (Style Gallery), where you will find a wealth of ageing treasures, not just the headscarves gathering dust in great-grandma’s drawer. Katalin has collected relics that can almost be called artifacts, spanning styles, eras and borders, so it is worth a visit for the purchase or just out of curiosity.
They have almost 3000 square metres of stock to choose from, including home furnishings, antique furniture, lamps, carpets, paintings, porcelain, glass, wood and metal ornaments, textiles, garden furniture and many more special items to please lovers of unique styles. In addition, they also organize the restoration of objects, and are looking for collaborative partners in the field of cabinetmaking and upholstery. And once you have chosen your favourite, it is delivered to your door, whether you are in the country or abroad.
