Are you looking for a quiet place to relax? Far from the noise of the city, the crowds and the rush, cosy little cabins on the edge of the forest await those who long for nature, with roaring fireplaces, panorama and heated hot tubs. If you are looking for the peace and quiet of the forest, one of the cottages we have collected is sure to be love at first sight.

There is nothing like the perfect silence of the forest to recharge your batteries. Many of us have realised this as a result of the events of recent years. Once out of quarantine, almost everyone wanted to get out into nature, and as a result, close-to-nature accommodation became increasingly popular. A number of unique, nature-embedded lodges have sprung up in our favourite domestic destinations, offering guests the experience of getting back to nature. One of the Hungarian strongholds of forest accommodation is clearly the Mátra, where one after the other, cosy little chalets and cabins with a tub and sauna have appeared. These accommodations are generally small in size, but perfectly equipped so that even in the immediate vicinity of nature, you do not have to sacrifice the comforts of your home. We have collected some unique accommodation close to the forest, where you can breathe in the fresh air with your morning coffee.

“Kabinka Mátra” (Mátra Hut)

The “Kabinka” (Hut) in Mátrakeresztes started out as a true love project, which is proven by the end result: a perfect hideaway for those looking for a romantic destination. The forest edge chalet is small in size, as its name suggests: compact, with a perfect use of space, it has everything you could possibly need. Nature really is at your fingertips, as you step out of the glass doors onto the huge terrace and into the forest, with nothing to do but relax in the hot tub and gaze at the trees.

“Fenyővölgy” (Pine Valley)

You do not have to give up real luxury in the mountains, as “Fenyővölgy” (Pine Valley) Mátrakeresztes proves. It offers a private sauna and hot tub, as well as unforgettable views of the valley of pines. The modern-style wood house has been designed in perfect harmony between technology and natural materials, with a glass-walled solution that blends the interior in harmony with nature. A perfectly equipped kitchen is at guests' disposal, or alternatively, a few minutes' walk from the “Templomvölgy Resort” (Church Valley Resort) restaurant, where you can enjoy a real rural gourmet experience.

Redwood Resort

The Redwood Resort is a true classic A-Frame (alpine roof) style cabin, with an unusual twist: the mountainside facing wall is floor to ceiling glass. The small house is located right next to a Natura 2000 nature reserve, so you will not be disturbed by neighbours, only by squirrels running through. The back entrance to the garden leads directly onto a hiking trail, so active recreation enthusiasts are sure to fall in love with this place. Of course, there is also a hot tub with a panorama, hidden among the trees, where you can relax.

River Cabin Mátra

The River Cabin Mátra is really special, because not only is it located right next to the forest, but there is also a stream running through the property. So not only the fresh forest air, but also the sound of the stream offer the chance to relax. Also with an Alpine roof, the cottage is fully equipped: there is even a small projector above the fireplace for an evening of snuggling up and watching a film. The terrace is located on the level of leaves, offering a beautiful view of the forest from the warmth of the jacuzzi.

Woodhouse Parádóhuta

The Woodhouse in Parádóhuta is not a new-build forest house: the owners have breathed new life into an old cabin. The accommodation, located in one of the smallest settlements in the Mátra, has been designed to leave as small an ecological footprint as possible, with everything made from environmentally friendly and conscious materials, which is also present at the choice of furniture. The terrace offers a fascinating panorama from the well-heated hot tub.
