Domonyvölgy – Equestrian Adventures and Five-Star Relaxation
If you’re a fan of horses and would like to observe them in a natural setting, Domonyvölgy is a great choice for a weekend getaway. The nearly 14-hectare, five-star Mythos Resort is home to more than a hundred horses, and you can also meet the residents of the Village Courtyard – ponies, donkeys, and grey cattle. A favourite among children is the Vesszőparipa playhouse, where they can watch ponies through a huge glass wall; the program lineup also includes family carriage rides, horse shows, and pony activities.
It’s worth spending several days on the estate, so that you can try as many activities as possible. To do so, you can book accommodations in stone houses evoking the atmosphere of Hungarian folk architecture or in one of the forest lodges nestled among the acacia trees. At the end of the day, parents can relax by the cozy swimming pond or in the bathhouse, though there are also opportunities to work out and enjoy the sauna.
Mogyoród – Squealing Tires and Roaring Machines
Hungaroring is one of Hungary’s best-known brands, having hosted the world’s most famous motorsport series, Formula 1, for forty years now – but anyone who thinks it only offers excitement during Hungarian Grand Prix week is mistaken. Nestled among the hills of Mogyoród, the racetrack is alive and pulsing with energy all year round – the powerful race cars, the horsepower, and the smell of gasoline can instantly captivate visitors of all ages.
Furthermore, those who would like to enjoy more than just motorsports at the racetrack can visit the Hungaroring Driving Center, where you can test your driving skills and adaptability to extreme road conditions and traffic situations in a safe environment. This opportunity is open not only to adults but also to children, as the MiniRing track allows them to learn the basics of safe driving in a playful way – and during summer break, they can even join themed camps.
The program lineup also includes occasional airsoft events, running races, off-road and go-karting activities, as well as track tours, thus visitors of nearly every age group can find exciting recreational opportunities at Hungaroring.
Monor – nature study with gastronomic delights
Monor is located less than half an hour from Budapest, which is a real family hiking paradise! In this wonderful settlement, nature and recreation go hand in hand, and there are exciting programmes and experiences for almost all age groups! The special hiking trail of the nature trail on Strázsa Hill invites nature lovers to an exciting adventure. At the various stations, you can get to know the natural treasures of the area, and the children can playfully learn about the local flora and fauna.
After the nature trail, you can relax at the playground in Monor: the modern and safe playground is full of exciting play elements, where both young and old can tire themselves out. If you get hungry after all this, the Lusta Páva is receiving you with open arms: here, local flavours meet the family atmosphere, so that you can top off the day with a really pleasant lunch. Last but not least: winery festivals and wine programmes are organized several times a year in the Winery Village in Monor, one of the best known of which is the Cellar Tour in June and the Autumn Cellar Tour organized in September.
