Animals close up: RoBirtok is also a great children’s programme for Santa Claus!
Hegedüs Robi
It all started with a horse, “who” initially moved into the yard of the house of Róbert Gyetvai and Anikó Gyetvainé Zováth and their four children in Kosd. Thanks to the family’s love of animals, the Gyetvai family bought a plot of land on the Naszály side of the village, and the RoBirtok, which bears the first name of the head of the family, grew out of it. Here, city kids can get away from the gadgets and experience life on a real farm. They can milk cows, participate in feeding and caring for the animals, jump in the straw bouncer, and enjoy delicious, home-made treats.
Farm animals and exotic pets
The farm, which is now qualified as a ZOO, has all the animals you’d expect to find in a village inn: lambs, horses, pigs, rabbits, cows, horses. But they are also home to alpacas, fallow deer, kangaroos, coati, big maras and Wallis sheep, which you can also get up close and personal with. You can enter a different animal enclosure every hour and help feed them, or even walk alpacas and mini ponies. In addition, we can find out why we shouldn’t call a fallow deer a roe deer, even if they do look alike. The estate’s guesthouse is special: a glass panel has been built into the floor so that guests staying in the guesthouse can keep an eye on the guinea pig family from above.
Here comes Santa Claus!
One of the most important events of the winter is Waiting for Santa Claus at RoBirtok. On these days, in addition to the petting ZOO, guests can enjoy golden dumplings with vanilly sause, children’s punch, homemade liver sausages, cocoa, traditional sausage, chimney cake, family games and of course Santa Claus himself, with his gifts and certificates. Families can also participate in a 6-station game led by Santa’s elves.
To keep the family atmosphere, you must register in advance on their website. This also applies to the season of individual visits to the estate from spring to late autumn, when only a limited number of guests can be guaranteed a high level of service and personal attention, which the owners are keen to maintain.
In the winter, outside of the themed weekends, only groups are welcome, whether they are children’s groups or groups of adults looking for a team-building experience. However, family and corporate events are organised all year round in the estate’s heated event cellar. The cellar can also be a great venue for family days, weddings or birthday parties. The guest house is also open all year round, with a breathtaking panoramic terrace overlooking the beauty of the Naszály. Staying here feels like having your own village hall! In the winter chill, you can warm up in the hot tub and give yourself over to relaxation.
