Ferenc Erkel’s grandfather lived within the walls of this castle as a cultural courtier, and later also his grandson, just like Mihály Munkácsy, also often stayed here. This is the first castle in Hungary where a play was performed as early as 1746. The Baroque block of the building was designed by Ferenc Harruckern, which his grandson, Ferenc Wenckheim, extended into a magnificent noble residence with a riding school and conservatory. Free guided tours of the complex are available, but there are also themed castle tours, including versions specially designed for children. There is also a recreation room, and a Baroque cooking school where you can create a bourgeois meal with the help of a master chef.
