The true power of a fresh start in the countryside in everyday life
When we yearn to escape the hustle and bustle of city life for the tranquillity of the countryside, we’re often faced with the question of how to turn our dreams into reality. The Gyüttment Találkozó offers us exactly this kind of support. We’re not talking about an isolated, one-time event, but rather a close-knit, mutually supportive community that remains active throughout the year, whose members constantly share their experiences with one another as they navigate the daily challenges of rural life.
Both individual life journeys and the successes of small communities show us that by leaving the expectations of consumer society behind, we can build a freer, more human-scale, and more authentic existence. Mutual support helps ensure that integrating into nature does not lead to isolation, but rather to a broader sense of solidarity organized into a closer unity.
Gently and responsibly, in harmony with our Earth
A gentle and responsible mindset occupies a central place among the community’s core values, manifesting itself in every aspect of our lives. This perspective defines how we treat nature and the Earth, how we connect with one another, and even how we relax.
In keeping with the zero-waste approach we’ve embraced year after year, we produce almost no trash during our gatherings – or, if we do, it’s only waste that we can compost on-site.
The regional approach and sustainability work in practice, as well: we source food and beverages packaging-free from local producers, thereby supporting the livelihoods of residents in the small communities hosting the event.
We minimize our environmental impact by organizing carpooling, using renewable energy sources, operating composting toilets, and consciously conserving water.
Practical knowledge and shared experiences for every member of the family
The theoretical and practical knowledge gained during these gatherings can be directly incorporated into our daily lives. Ecological architecture, permaculture farming, and natural healing solutions are all topics we can learn about through the stories of people who have actually moved off the grid and through expert discussions.
Workshops allow us to experience the joy of creating together, while at the farmers’ market – which showcases the work of local artisans – we can directly experience the values of our environment.
This four-day gathering not only offers a rejuvenating experience for adults but also promises meaningful programs for the youngest members of the family. Through children’s programs, games, physical activities, and local history tours, the time spent here can be both enjoyable and educational, even for very young children.
The small community spaces hosting these events serve as living examples of how we can leave behind architectural legacies instead of an unnecessary ecological footprint.
