Kétfecske – Mosonmagyaróvár

The creator and engine of Kétfecske, Angéla Kocsis, is carrying out a special project in Mosonmagyaróvár. In her workshop, jewellery, baskets, folk costumes, garments, carpets, bags, seating furniture, other home furnishings and installations are made using so-called retextile technology. Thanks to this special method of textile recycling (which, by the way, is a development of the Retextil Műhely in Pécs), used clothes, home textiles and unused materials can get a new life. Moreover, in Angéla's kingdom, the Bohém Tanya Community Workshop, not only "products" are made! In the spirit of green thinking, with the tools of art therapy, we can learn about the conscious use of raw materials, we can participate in retextile, sewing and other craft workshops, but there are also many child-oriented environmental attitude-shaping programs here. It is interesting that casual and even wedding dresses are also made in the workshop!

The Bohém Tanya Community Workshop is mostly open on weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., but it is better to make an appointment with Angéla in advance.

You can find it here: HU-9200 Mosonmagyaróvár, Templom utca 5.

Multifelt Textil Company – Kőszeg

On the border of Kőszeg, local industrialists have already been brayed cloth since the middle of the 19th century, and since 1896 - as the only one in Hungary - premium wool felt raw material has also been produced within the walls of the imposing factory. More than 125 years of expertise and extremely environmentally friendly production technology still allow organic wool felts to be made continuously within the walls of the old factory building. The only felt factory in our country also manufactures accessories and various acoustic products for office buildings and public spaces, as well as customized to individual designer needs. For example, anyone can view one of their acoustic wall panels in the House of Traditions building at the bottom of the Buda Castle.

By prior appointment, they welcome you and show you around the Multifelt factory.

You can find it here: Kőszeg, Rőti völgy 3.

Grund Für – Balatonboglár

The Balaton project of the sustainable fashion designer Borbála Ferencz, her family business, is a real dash of colour on the southern shore of the lake. In her empire near the outskirts of Balatonboglár, she created such a creative space that is open to creatives, artists, designers and interested parties alike. Plastic recycling and jewellery-making workshops take place here, but from the summer of 2024, she plans to organize recycling programmes for the general public in collaboration with fashion designers. Borbála's "gate" is open from May until the end of the season, and you should check her Instagram for current programmes.

You can find it here: Balatonboglár

Monokrom Design Store – Pécs

We heartily recommend the first design store of Pécs, the Monokrom Design Store, to travellers who are not classic refrigerator magnet collectors. The store on Király Street awaits visitors in the city centre with a selection of products by local and Hungarian artists, a special selection of street fashion and quality street art accessories. The range of brands, as well as the range of limited-edition products, is constantly updated, be it clothing or jewellery collections, home furnishings, bags or other accessories. The confusion of abundance may be our biggest concern when we come here.

You can find it here: HU-7621 Pécs Király utca 33.

Szeged Slippers and Szeged Slippers Day – Szeged

Szeged Slipper Day is an annual event which is worth keeping in mind when planning a trip to Szeged! During the event, we can take part in exclusive guided tours, film screenings, diverse family programmes and, of course, the unmissable slipper fair. The works of vintage and contemporary slipper masters and slipper embroiderers can be seen at the exhibition organized as part of the event.

But even if we are not coming to this wonderful town in June, Szeged slippers are still a great choice! In the FolkArt Folk Art Shop, for example, you can browse through many handcrafted folk art products, from porcelain to blue-dyed textiles to the indispensable Szeged slippers, which can also be found in a contemporary interpretation.

You can find it here: Szeged, Somogyi u. 17.

Közért Bar – Káptalantóti

Thanks to Faur Zsófi Galéria, Amikor Antik, Design Galéria and Kinga Cakó, you can enjoy coffee and wine tasting among contemporary works of art and the works of Hungarian designers at the Közért Bar in Káptalantóti. The space is multifunctional and multifaceted: object culture, design, furniture and contemporary fine art appear here at the same time. What exactly does this mean? A unique exhibition was created on the site of the former pub and grocery store, which is a bar, breakfast place, delicatessen and gallery at the same time. Its uniqueness is also supported by the fact that artists from different genres do not appear together anywhere else. Moreover, the artists are not only present in Káptalantóti with their works, but also hold guided tours and public meetings. And to say a few words about the restaurant: the owners have selected a mouth-watering selection of products from the region. In Közért, you can buy and taste the diverse range of gastronomy, accompanied by a great coffee.

You can find it here: Káptalantóti, Petőfi Sándor u. 85.

Balatoni Buborék – Tihany

We find an incredibly cute design store in Tihany, on Visszhang utca. The Balatoni Buborék perfectly fits the romantic wanderings, where Balaton's belongings and gifts decorate the small space, almost begging us to take them home. The owners select the range from the works of domestic and foreign designers in such a way that they keep in mind style, uniqueness and, of course, the Balaton theme. There are also jewellery, bags, T-shirts, accessories, and vintage products.

You can find it here: Tihany, Visszhang u. 11

Kunszt! – Veszprém

The Kunszt! a real fusion unit in the old town of Veszprém, in the patinated Rosenberg house, which is a design store, community space, gallery and a great breakfast bar all in one. The venue often hosts various art exhibitions, cultural programmes and other workshops. Here you can take part in a mug painting session, but you can also make table decorations and many other exciting decorative items. In the pop-up store that appears periodically, you can choose from special works by talented industrial artists and designers, and last but not least, you can enjoy a refined gastronomic experience.

You can find it here: Keszthely, Óváros tér 1.
