Tethys-Veszprém Halagút

An exciting time travel awaits us in Halagút, hidden in the side of the Sintér hill in Veszprém. The passage under the Völgyhíd can be approached from two directions. One way starts from the bank of the Séd stream (Kittenberger Street) and leads up to the Tethys tunnel along a small forest path. The other path leads down from Harmat Street to the painted gateway. Walking through it, you can jump back in time about 200 million years, the inhabitants of the former Tethys Sea come to life. Among them, we can also find the pebble-toothed mock turtle or Placochelys Placodonta in Latin. It caused a big sensation when its remains were discovered in Veszprém in 1903! Nowadays, it has become the mascot of the town, and its statues can be found in several places in the town.
