The main attraction of this truly unique folk custom, which will return as a tradition on 22 February, is the “shaving” ritual, during which women in barber costumes clean men’s faces using flour, shaving-brush and a wooden razor. This custom has become a symbol of purification and renewal over time, and according to tradition, it even symbolizes the moment of becoming a man. The shaving team consists of the barber, his assistant and the purser, who are also the leaders of the masquerade procession. The cheerful procession will take place in the streets of the village, with the participants marching in costumes reminiscent of old crafts, such as chimney sweepers, pot menders or prophetess, while chasing away winter with loud music and banging pots.
