Nagy-Szénás tanösvény

Unique plants just a stone’s throw from the capital. The 2.1-kilometer-long nature trail starting from Nagykovácsi is a moderately difficult circular tour. The diverse world of dolomite rocks hides many wonders: in early spring, it is worth setting out to see the splendor of the pasqueflower and spring snowflake; at the end of May, the rare Lumnitzer carnation blooms, and around this time, two types of orchids, the lady orchid and the military orchid, also make an appearance. In June, we can admire the Cross Gentian flowers. During our trip, we will also find a renovated rest area, and our reward for our efforts will be a wonderful view of the surrounding landscape. At the top of Nagy-Szénás, we can also encounter Europe’s largest insect, the predatory bush cricket.
