The motorhome lifestyle and the “encounter” with thermal water
When we set off in a motorhome, we can enjoy a special kind of freedom that few other forms of travel can offer. Thanks to the weatherproof, all-comfort design of motorhomes, interest in camping in Hungary has changed significantly in recent years. It has broken away from the traditional form of summertime relaxation by the water, as more and more people have realized that Hungary’s natural resources, especially its abundant thermal water reserves, make it possible to camp in all four seasons.
Campsite operators have responded quickly to these demands by creating indoor parking lots, service points, and heated communal areas that offer comfortable relaxation even in colder weather.
The expectations of modern campers are constantly changing: today, we are no longer just looking for a plot of land to spend the night but expect a complex experience for every member of the family. This has led to the growing popularity of sites with direct access between the campsite and the spa.
Respect for nature and comfort go hand in hand
Sustainability and learning about local values have also come to the fore in camping. When we visit a campsite, we not only enjoy the activities within the fence, but also get involved in the local community. We visit farmers’ markets, try local restaurants, go hiking, and learn about the history of the area.
This kind of “slow tourism” and immersion helps us to truly break away from everyday life and get closer to nature.
Vulkán Wellness Hotel & Camping. Relaxation in the vicinity of the witness mountain
In Celldömölk, in the center of Kemenesalja, we can find a complex built on the meeting point of volcanic forces and healing waters. The uniqueness of the Vulkán Wellness Hotel & Camping lies in its surroundings, as the fully equipped camping pitches offer unobstructed views of the five-million-year-old Ság Mountain. The campsite has 56 large parking spaces for motorhomes and caravans, and its guests have unlimited access to the Vulkán Gyógy- és Élményfürdő (Vulkán Thermal and Adventure Bath).
The area has modern bathroom facilities, cooking and washing facilities, and a playground and playroom for the little ones to enjoy.
In addition to the spa’s medicinal waters, you can also enjoy the indoor swimming pool and wellness area saunas all year round. Don’t miss the interactive exhibition at the Kemenes Volcano Park, which is an exciting program for preschoolers and older children alike! Hikers can discover the geological treasures of the area on the 1.7-kilometer Ság Mountain circular trail.
Barack Thermal Camping. Family-friendly hospitality at the River Tisza
In Tiszakécske, on a bend of the Tisza River, you will find a family-friendly campsite that has been attracting guests for decades. Barack Thermal Camping has 104 pitches on 1.5 hectares of land, with direct water and electricity connections for those arriving in motorhomes.
The charm of the place comes from the directly accessible spa, family programs, and winterized sanitary facilities. The campsite is dog-friendly, so you can bring your four-legged friends along for the vacation.
The spa offers relaxation with its medicinal waters, sauna world and water slide park, while children can enjoy entertainment programs.
While here, it is worth visiting the farmers’ market in Tiszakécske, where you can buy fresh food from local farmers.
Thermal Camping Lenti. Recharge your batteries and heal yourself in the embrace of the Zala forests
The town of Lenti offers a unique location where the power of medicinal water and the energies of the earth come together. Thermal Camping Lenti has 54 pitches, and guests have unlimited access to the spa and the Szent György Energy Park.
The latter lies at the intersection of special energy lines, which aids the regeneration of the body and more effective relaxation.
The spa offers indoor and outdoor pools, adventure elements, and a modern sauna world. There is a trampoline and playground for children, and the surrounding Kerka Valley is ideal for cycling tours.
Don’t wait for the summer!
In order to ensure that traveling in a motorhome is comfortable even in the colder months, pay attention to a few important details! Before departure, check the heating and hot water systems and fill up the gas tank! If you are not planning to travel to areas below freezing, there is nothing else to do but choose your destination and set off!
