New wave cafés at every turn
Hype&Hyper
The Rusty Coffee Box: Balaton-container café on the beach
The first speciality café on Lake Balaton opened in a "rusty" shipping container in a beautiful waterfront setting. In the café on the high shore of Balatonakarattya, you can enjoy quality coffee and the incomparable panorama of Lake Balaton without distractions. Ádám Bodrogi is involved in the creative use of containers, while Péter Balázsi is known for his My Little Melbourne Coffee. Well, their lovechild is the place that shakes up Balatonakarattya, and it's not just for coffee lovers.
Antique Café & Tea: New wave coffees, an atmosphere of the past
The interior might suggest that it's a place leftover from the past, but as soon as you look at the coffee selection, you realise that it's a new wave café. There's also a great selection of teas, and handcrafted pastries to accompany the refreshments. The smell of wood furniture and coffee is a tempting combination, especially if you want to sit down and have a chat in a cosy and intimate atmosphere. Although not directly in the city centre, it's not too far from the hustle and bustle: a brilliant choice for those who want a quiet place to stay but don't want to walk for miles.
Depresso Kitchen Étterem: Soul warming drinks
It would be a shame to miss Depresso in Eger if you want to have a good breakfast or brunch, accompanied by a delicious, quality coffee. Amongst the owners of the place is one of the country's best-known psychiatrists, Dr Imre Csernus, who is a coffee lover by his profession. The café-restaurant is located in the centre of the city, in one of the corners of Dobó István Square, so in good weather, the terrace is a truly unmissable choice if you want to rest your eyes on the always-bustling city centre. We also recommend the bagel and the cocoa swirl bun!
R Coffee & Beauty: Amazing coffee, where we don’t expect it
Coffee is not just a drink to start the day, it's a life experience at R Coffee & Beauty in the Rétság. One of the highlights of the place is that in addition to coffees, teas, and bistro-style snacks, you can also buy delicacies such as artisan chocolates, muesli, and homemade syrups. The environment and service are pleasant, the coffee is excellent, and in good weather you can spend hours on the cosy terrace.
