For one day, the past comes to life at the Sóstó Museum Village, where dishes simmering over the fire meet stories unearthed from the depths of the earth. The Archaeological Gastronomy Festival invites you on a special journey through time, where you can discover a slice of human history through flavours. Throughout the day, the cuisines of various eras come to life: from the Neolithic to the Middle Ages, food reconstructions are prepared using period-appropriate ingredients and traditional techniques. Visitors can not only watch the preparation but also taste the dishes, gaining insight into how our ancestors ate. The culinary experiences are complemented by themed lectures, where archaeologists talk about eating habits, excavated artifacts, and the daily life these reveal.
