Between 4 and 6 September, the Huszár Mátyás embankment in Szeged will once again be filled with cauldrons and a buzz of activity, as the 27th International Tisza Fish Festival takes place. Fish soups simmer side by side on the banks of the Tisza, whilst the scent of paprika fills the embankment. Alongside the fish dishes, the festival features a craft market, gastronomic exhibitors, fish soup cooked in giant cauldrons, as well as concerts and cultural programmes to create a lively atmosphere. At this time of year, the riverbank becomes a true open-air meeting place, where the view of the River Tisza, the freshly cooked fish soup and the live music all come together to evoke Szeged’s hospitality and the city’s fishing traditions.
