Zrínyi-vár (Szigetvár)

One of Hungary’s most famous castles made its mark in European history in 1566, when castle captain Miklós Zrínyi and his 2,500 Hungarian and Croatian soldiers held off the mighty army of Sultan Suleiman for a time. The heroic struggle and the military history of Szigetvár are presented in the modern, interactive exhibitions opened in the castle. You can visit the castle through the centuries, from the remains of the first tower built at the beginning of the 15th century (Old Tower), through the dungeon row built at the beginning of the 17th century to the Andrássy Castle built at the beginning of the 20th century.
