Near Magyaregregy, in the wild and unspoilt Mecsek mountains, stand the ruins of the Máré Castle. The strategic importance of the steep, wooded Castle Hill was already recognised by the Romans, but a castle was only built on the roof in the 1300’s. The building fell into Turkish hands, and written records from the 17th century refer to the castle as a ruin only. In addition to the majestic panorama, the eerie legend of the building is also worth discovering!
