Located on an island completely surrounded by the Bódva River, between the Bükk Mountains and the Aggtelek National Park, the estate was built as a castle by Jean-François L’Huillier, a senior officer in the Habsburg army. Today it houses the largest coherent collection of Rococo murals in the country – Ferenc Lieb’s work is the most valuable part of the building. The collection of maps from the period 1540–1945 constitutes also a rare treasure. It is worth taking the time to visit both attractions, in addition to walking around the castle.
