There are places in the Hanság that you’d be unlikely to reach on an ordinary excursion. The Hanyi Safari sets off from Öntésmajor, then takes you into the more remote areas of South Hanság in a Land Rover Defender from the Fertő–Hanság National Park. Following in the footsteps of Hany Istók, you can spot grey cattle, buffalo and numerous bird species – though, of course, this always depends on what the landscape has to offer at the time. The four-and-a-half-hour guided tour is limited to small groups: a maximum of seven people can take part on any one occasion. In autumn and early winter, the safari runs at several different times, thus we can see a completely different side to the same countryside in October compared to a December morning. The tour departs at 9.00 a.m. from the Hanság Wildlife Exhibition, and advance booking is required.
