Arborétum (Kastélypark) Sellye

The leafy legacy of Iván Draskovich in Sellye. In the nearly 8-hectare arboretum, you can also admire such specialties as, for example, the balsam fir or silver fir, the rose-bordered copper beech or the pagoda-tree. In addition to 115 evergreens, 240 types of deciduous trees colour the park's palette; it is interesting that some of the plants were planted here directly from China, Japan or the Caucasus. The arboretum can be visited all year round, but it takes on its most beautiful face at the end of winter and at the beginning of spring: when the blooming Illyrian crocuses turn the ground into a sea of purple petals.
