Peak attack with grass and maidenhair fern in Nagykovácsi, in the area of the Szénások
Route: Nagykovácsi – Nagy-Szénás – Kutya Hill – Nagykovácsi
Tour length: 8 km
The tour starting from Nagykovácsi takes you through the picturesque surroundings of the Szénás mountain group with Europe certificate. During the 7-8 km long tour of medium difficulty, you can enjoy the majestic 360-degree panorama of the Buda Mountains, the Pilis and the Visegrád Mountains. Due to the variety of the route, walking can be a real experience for everyone!
You can start your tour in the friendly unit opposite the entrance of the Teleki-Tisza Castle, in the Tandem Book and Coffee. After a filling vegetable quiche or spinach burek, head north on the red lane sign, which is the Nagy-Szénás nature trail at the same time. This tourist route leads all the way to Nagy-Szénás. During your journey, if you look carefully around, you can see that today grassy and bushy-wooded patches dominate along the hiking trail. The reason for this is that the landscape of Nagykovácsi was largely shaped by former landscape use (lime burning, coal burning, grazing, logging).
The habitats formed on the dolomite bedrock of the highly protected area are home to many protected plant species. Such a speciality is, for example, the Hungarian meadow saxifrage native to our country, the Lumnitzer carnation, or the Pilis flax that lives only here in the world.
Although this latter species is not visible on the route, it can be seen when it blooms with a guide provided by the Directorate of the Danube–Ipoly National Park! Leaving the peak, go along the blue lane and then the blue cross sign in a westerly direction, and at the junction of the yellow lane, turn back to the east! We get back to Nagykovács via pear field.
A walk among the pendulum stones of the Velencei Mountains, with a tour in a wildlife park
Route: Pákozd – Lake Bella – pendulum stones of Pákozd – Zsivány Cave – Pákozd Tour length: 8 km
The only mountain with granite bedrock in our country is the Velencei Mountains, which has many interesting features for adventurers. One of the most exciting hiking spots in the region is the Pákozdi Pagony Wildlife Park and Arboretum, as well as the special Pendulum Stones, almost balancing on each other. You can go on a hunt for exciting natural formations within the framework of the only 8-kilometre circular tour. The special rock forms of the Pendulum Stones are not only spectacular, but also provide a great photo subject. As an ending, in the game park you can admire the largest herd of sika deer in our country, the pheasants and peacocks living in the birds’ house, as well as the forest big game species living in their natural environment.

Let's start from the centre of Pákozd to the north along the Bella stream and follow the green cross tourist sign. Bella Lake is nearby, and not long after, the first rock formation on the mountain, the Pogánykő. You can continue your "treasure hunt" by crossing the Meleg Hill. Your next photo subject is the Kocka, which seems to balance on an edge among several rocks, as well as the Oroszlán Rock, and then the Pandúr Rock, resembling a giant turned into stone. Follow the oak leaves of the Gránit nature trail through the shady forest to the Kis-Cipó rock! Along the trail, enjoying the view of Lake Velence, you return to Pákozd.
A postcard-worthy view in the heart chakra of the Earth, Nagymaros
Route: Nagymaros – Templom-völgy – Hegyes-tető – Nagymaros
Tour length: 6 km
The Hegyes-tetö tour in Nagymaros can be an excellent choice with family, friends, or perhaps as a couple, if in addition to hiking, the experience and the panorama are also important considerations! During the only 6-kilometre circular tour of medium difficulty, you can admire the wonderful panorama of the Danube bend from the Julianus lookout, but you can also see the Visegrád castle and look down at the majestic Danube winding under your feet.

Start your day with an unadulterated Hungarian classic; Rigójancsi at the Édeske Confectionery Workshop! The National Blue Trail sign passes here, so after morning cake and coffee, you just have to step on the path. You leave the streets of Nagymaros up the mountain, continue your journey in the Templom Valley, and then we slowly reach the Szent Mihály saddle-back. Keeping to the right, you go past the former geological research mine, then after an ascent you reach Hegyes top. It is worth taking out your cameras now: the Julianus lookout, built about 86 years ago, offers an unparalleled view of the landscape below our feet. You will get out of here shortly: it is said that the heart chakra of the Earth is located in this area, which you will certainly feel at the top of Hegyes top. You can descend back to Nagymaros along the Hegyestetői road, leaving the tourist sign, then joining the blue T-sign. It is worth relaxing in this wonderful town, for which the private wooden house of VIBE Nagymaros can be perfect.
