Traditions are also important to Tihany, and the sabre carps will be commemorated again this year.
Tihany is hosting one of the biggest gastronomic and cultural festivals of the autumn season again this year. For those who don’t know, Sabre carp (in Hungarian: Garda) is a species of fish. These scaly fish gather in their millions in November to swim to the deep water to overwinter. This, as well as the old fishing traditions and the delicious fish dishes, are celebrated at the event, which has been an unmissable event in Tihany since 2002.
