The famous Anna Ball will be held in Balatonfüred on 23rd July, for the 197th time. One of the oldest social events in the country, this ball has a long historical tradition: the first Anna Ball was organised by Fülöp János Horváth Szentgyörgyi on 26th July 1825 in the Horváth House in Füred in honour of his daughter, Krisztina.
The most popular ball of the 19th century aristocracy was attended by prominent people connected to Balatonfüred, such as Lujza Blaha, Mór Jókai and Mihály Vörösmarty. The event revives one of the richest periods of civil Hungary, the Reform Era, both in atmosphere and tradition, in the ornamental halls and the prestigious courtyard of the Anna Grand Hotel. The most exciting part of the ball is the election of the Belle of the Anna Ball and her runners-up, which traditionally takes place after midnight.
